Easy 5 Minute Hummus

Updated: Apr 17, 2022

This hummus is quick and easy to make. It tastes good straight from the blender, but I recommend that you pop it in the refrigerator for at least an hour to let it cool. That's when the flavor really develops!

Prep Time: 0 Minutes | Cook Time: 5 Minutes | Total Time: 5 Minutes

Special Equipment

  • Blender

  • 2 Medium Bowls

Ingredients (US Standard)

  • 1 (15oz) can of Garbanzo Beans / Chickpeas, undrained

  • 1/2 cup Tahini

  • Juice of 1 Lime (or 2 tbsp bottled Lime Juice)

  • 1 tbsp Garlic, minced

  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil

  • 1/2 tsp Salt, or more (to taste)

Ingredients (Metric)*

  • 1 (15oz) can of Garbanzo Beans / Chickpeas, undrained

  • 1/2 cup Tahini

  • Juice of 1 Lime (about 30mL bottled Lime Juice)

  • 1 tbsp Garlic, minced

  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil

  • 1/2 tsp Salt, or more (to taste)

*All metric units are converted and should be considered more or less.

Method

  1. Empty the can of Garbanzo Beans into 1 medium sized bowl, including all of the can's water. Microwave for 5 minutes.

  2. While the beans are microwaving, add the remaining ingredients to the blender.

  3. Once the beans are finished microwaving, add them to the blender as well. (Caution: use potholders, as bowl will be hot!)

  4. Blend on medium until the mixture is well combined and creamed.

  5. Pour hummus into second medium sized bowl. Eat immediately if desired. Or, if you have time, refrigerate for one hour until hummus is cold. The flavors will develop and the hummus will also thicken as it cools, resulting in a more creamy texture.
