This is a simple recipe for a tasty hamburger steak, and tastes great with your favorite brown gravy.
Fun Fact: This dish was extremely popular when we went to Japan in late 2019, but it was simply called "Hamburg". Feel free to use that name, too!
Prep Time: 10 Minutes | Cook Time: 20 Minutes | Total Time: 30 Minutes
Special Equipment
1 large Mixing Bowl
1 Frying Pan
Ingredients (US Standard)
1lb 90% lean Ground Beef, raw
1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
1/4 cup Dried Breadcrumbs
1 Large Egg, beaten
1/2 cup Diced Onion
1 tbsp Minced Garlic
1/2 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Black Pepper, ground
Method
Combine all ingredients in the large mixing bowl. Mix with hands until well combined and firm, about 2 minutes.
Separate the mixture into 4 pieces, and roll them into balls.
Using palms of hands, flatten the balls into steaks that are about 1/2" thick.
Place two steaks on the frying pan, set to Medium heat. Cook for about 5 minutes on one side before flipping. Continue cooking for another 5 minutes, or until meat is fully browned and does not bleed when cut into.
Repeat process for remaining steaks. Serve with gravy and sides of choice.
